The Aftermath

12 05 2008

download

I
went back to Beirut on the 11th of May to get some stuff from my apartment and checked home and my car. I remembered that during the gunfire nights i heard a bullet hit metal on one of my balconies. The hole in the picture above was caused from the shootings on May 8th. Fortunately the window wasn’t shattered and none of my property was damaged.
The situation in Beirut is calm, military forces spread out all over, but our friends from Amal and Hizb Allah have some streets closed as part of the strike on governmental decisions.

The idiot next to me..

10 05 2008

T
he problem here is not with Kuwait Airways; it’s the guy next to me! The idiot next to me decided to throw his litter on the aisle instead of throwing it in the waste bag that is provided for every passenger! It’s because of these people Kuwait is going back in everything!

One more thing..

I find it creative to have your picture on your bag instead of having your full address.

Run faster..

9 05 2008

Vibram. Ugly shoes. I have tried them on; they are not comfortable at all. The guy at the shop told me that they are excellent for running and cycling. I am thinking, Alvaro and JBB might need one of those to run faster just incase anything happens to them in Lebanon;p

GOD BLESS LEBANON and take care..

Update

9 05 2008

The situation became a bit calmer this afternoon/evening. I fled Beirut this morning heading to the mountains. The Kuwaiti Embassy escorted Kuwaiti people out of the Northern border of Tripoli at about 6:30-7:00 pm. (The Kuwaitis stayed about 4 hours at the Syrian borders- nothing unusual)
The Saudi Embassy also evacuated its citizens and are now at the borders along with Bahrain’s Embassy. Other shootings and riots took place in Tripoli while the Saudis were passing by. On their way a Saudi bus had an accident which delayed their trip, and afterwards was hit by a bullet by accident.
Thankfully everyone is safe and are on their way to Damascus Airport
The environment here is amazing and people are out excersicing their everyday obligations as usual.

2nd update:
I have heard Rumors that a Kuwaiti bus wasn’t allowed to pass the borders for some reason. People in the bus returned to Metropolitan Hotel in Sin el Fil (Beirut’s suburbs.)
